News App is a reader for the sites and feeds you choose, on iPhone and Mac. It has no account, no ads, and no tracking. If something isn't working the way it should, we want to hear about it.
Adding Sources
Tap + in Feeds (or use File > Add Feed on the Mac) and paste a site's address. The app finds the site's feed for you. You can also import an OPML file from another reader in Settings > Library.
Full Articles
Many feeds only include a summary. The reader downloads the full story from the publisher's page and shows it in a clean, readable layout. Some sites block this or require a subscription; for those you will see the excerpt with an Open Original button. If a story didn't load because of a bad connection, tap Try Again.
Syncing Between iPhone and Mac
Sources, read state, bookmarks and rules sync through your private iCloud account. Make sure both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive turned on. Sync can take a minute after you open the app. You can also connect a feed service such as Feedbin, NewsBlur, FreshRSS, BazQux or The Old Reader under Settings > Accounts.
Notifications
Notifications are off until you ask for them. Create a topic and turn on Notify on new matches, or turn on Notify about new stories when editing a source. If nothing arrives, check that notifications are allowed for News App in your device's Settings.
Offline Reading
The app can download recent unread stories, and their images, so they open without a connection. Choose which sources download and whether cellular data is allowed in Settings > Offline & Storage.

Privacy
